Notary public, Singapore
Notarisation in Singapore
If a document is going overseas, it almost certainly needs to be notarised, and often authenticated or legalised after that. We do the notarial work and tell you exactly what else the destination country will want, before you find out the expensive way.
What we do
What notarisation involves
Notarising a signature
You sign in front of the notary, who confirms your identity and that the signature is yours. This is what most overseas forms mean.
What to bringCertifying a true copy
The notary compares a copy against the original and certifies that it matches. For documents you cannot post abroad.
What to bringAuthentication and legalisation
Most countries want more than a notary's seal: authentication by the Academy of Law, then an apostille or an embassy stamp.
What to bring
Fees
The rates are set by rule
Notarial fees in Singapore are fixed by the Notaries Public Rules, so they are identical wherever you go. Anyone quoting you a different number for the notarial act itself is either adding their own charge or has misunderstood the question.

I live abroad, so I could mail my degree to JCP, and they help me get it apostilled, and then courier it back to me. Everything is done within 1 week. Very professional and fast service.

Extremely impressed with JCP Law's team. They completed a notarised deed poll with apostille and mailed it to me overseas, all in under a week. Exceptionally fast and efficient. The team was professional and responsive throughout the entire process.

I recently had certificates translated from Indonesian to English and certified by JCP. The service was excellent from start to finish. The team was professional, efficient, and the translations were accurate.

Questions
Common questions
Does my document need a notary, or will a Commissioner for Oaths do?
The rule of thumb is where the document is going. A document that will be used outside Singapore is notarised. A document that stays in Singapore usually needs only a Commissioner for Oaths, which is cheaper.
The confusion usually comes from forms written abroad that ask for a Commissioner for Oaths without allowing for the fact that you are signing in a different country. Send us the document and we will tell you which one it needs.
How much does notarisation cost?
Notarial fees are set by rule and are the same at every notary in Singapore, so there is nothing to be gained by shopping around on price. What differs between firms is how quickly you are seen and whether anyone explains the process. Our full schedule is on the fees page.
How long does it take?
The notarial appointment itself takes a few minutes. If your document also needs authentication by the Singapore Academy of Law, or legalisation at an embassy afterwards, that adds working days rather than hours. Tell us the deadline when you enquire and we will tell you plainly whether it is achievable.
Do I need to attend in person?
For anything where the notary witnesses you signing, yes. You will need to bring the original document and your passport or NRIC. Certifying a true copy does not always require the signatory to attend, but the original document does.
What is an apostille and do I need one?
An apostille is a certificate that makes a document acceptable in another country that is party to the Hague Convention. Singapore joined in 2021. Whether you need one depends entirely on the destination country and often on the specific authority asking for the document.
